Start with God and everything else will follow
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind and love your neighbour as yourself.” (Luke 17:21)
In my devotional “A few thoughts on revival” I shared with you how my journey started into discovering what revival means. In my walk with God I have this word I use for experiences I have with Him, that alter me forever. I call them - Road signs and this is because of a verse from Jeremiah 31:21
“Set up road signs; put up guideposts. Take note of the highway, the road that you take.”
This is one of the reasons I started to write down everything since 2003 and I now reached notebook 27- each of approximately 200 pages. My notebooks became my road signs. I cannot get lost because all I have to do is go back to my notebooks, read and remember.
One of my road signs is my friend Mihaela from Romania. Mihaela is paralysed from her neck down and cannot do anything without assistance from someone. For a time, she could use her hands with a lot of effort, but eventually she lost that ability also. I never ever heard my friend complain. All I hear from her is God and she constantly asks everyone she knows- what can I pray for you to the point that if I ever need prayer, I contact Mihaela.
One day, my sister and I went to visit her, and she was beaming. She told us she had cried a lot that day, first tears of sadness and then tears of joy. Then she proceeded to tell us why. You see, Mihaela was lying on her back as always, when it started to rain outside. She could hear everything, but she could not see anything other than her wardrobe door, if she turned her head. The sun came out and Mihaela told the Lord “I would do anything to see the rainbow, but I can’t even see the rain.” So, she started to cry. She then told us that she felt an overwhelming sense of peace and joy as if there was someone else in the room.
The sun came out and my friend turned her head and there they were- hundreds of rainbows on her wardrobe door. You see, when the sun came out, the light reflected on the raindrops that fell on her window and projected hundreds of rainbows in front of my friend. With tears of joy in her eyes, my friend turned to us and said “I asked for one rainbow and the Lord gave hundreds to me. That’s how much He loves me and cares.”
I never ever forgot what my friend told me on that day, and it is at the basis of why I believe with all my heart that REVIVAL starts with us loving and caring so much for God, that we find Him in everything around us. Because when He becomes that important to us, when we care that much, He alters everything starting with us and followed by our world.
My prayer for everyone who reads this, is that after you take these six weeks to search for God’s heart, you and your world will never be the same again. I pray that every moment you dedicate to pursuing Him in this way, will in turn become for you a “rainbow moment” and you will be so blessed, that you will not be able to help but be a blessing to those around you.
